Due to the warmer climate in Texas and year-round coastal fishing, rental opportunities are vast. Family vacationers rent in early Spring and Spring Break and far into the summer and early fall months. Fishermen and retired individuals also visit during colder fall and winter months. Some retired couples are known to rent homes for an entire month in the off-season, often coming from Northern areas of the US where the weather is much colder. These guests are referred to as “Winter Texans”, since they frequently escape places like Philidelphia in the winter to retreat to a reasonable Texas climate.

Fishing

Port Aransas and its neighbors Rockport and Corpus Christi are part of the Intercoastal waterway system, which brings high volumes of fishing and freight traffic. Home to some of the best seafood along the US coast, fishermen enthusiasts will find year-round fishing opportunities in the shallow bay or deep sea.

Location and Convenience

A short drive from major cities like Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Port Aransas is a popular vacation destination to thousands of Texans. Young families love the clean beaches for splashing and building sand castles, and the small town provides quick and easy access to shops and restaurants. The beach is also popular for tailgating and camping. It is common to find trailers and tents with large family groups having picnics, flying kites and throwing footballs along the beach.

The University of Texas Marine Center offers a small museum where children and adults can explore with some hands on exhibits about aquatic life, the coastal region and the local marshes. Bird watchers can find several places to view beautiful birds, from Common Gulls, to Blue Herons and Roseate Spoonbills.

The average price of a home in Neuces County was about $161,895.00 according to Trulia 2015 data. However, there are a variety of types of properties in the area. Oceanfront single family homes are likely to be the highest priced, and they often tower high above the ground with rooftop observation decks. On the other end of the spectrum, there are small condos and townhomes for rent closer to town, but still only a few minutes drive to the beach.

With a small local airport, Port Aransas is attractive to pilots who own small aircraft. It is an easy flight from other Texas cities, and the airport hanger is close in to a marina and neighboring homes. Transportation in the area includes a ferry that connects to Aransas Pass and allows travelers to venture to historic Texas towns.
